This app is for you if you have a menstrual cycle* and would like to track it!
The app is designed to work as a data recording and visualisation tool. You input daily observations of bodily signs like menstrual bleeding, cervical fluid and waking body temperature. These signs are then presented back to you in a beautiful cycle chart. You can interpret your charts to meet a variety of goals:
- Avoid pregnancy
- Gain health insights
- Plan a pregnancy
The app is suitable for you even if you have long or irregular cycles, have PCOS or are in a time of hormonal transition (coming off hormonal contraception, postpartum, approaching menopause). This is because the app does not make any predictions or interpretations for you. Instead it allows you to track the unfolding of each of your unique cycles in real-time.
The app is well suited for people who have a basic understanding of how their body works and/or who are receiving learning support from a certified educator. It’s also accessible to those who are new to cycle charting. There are lots of info screens throughout the app although it’s not designed to teach you how to chart.
Please note that the app is not a contraceptive device. It won’t tell you when you’re fertile (although there is a handy fertile window shading feature that uses your own interpretations). If you’re looking for auto-interpretations then Read Your Body is not right for you! It puts users in full control of their charts.
*If you’re on hormonal contraception that suppresses your cycles then you can still use the app to track withdrawal bleeds and lifestyle factors including moods, exercise, sleep, etc. You’re unlikely to see any meaningful patterns with regards to cervical fluid and waking body temperature though.
